Win a $500 Aerostich Gift Certificate

Ride to the Very Boring Rally 3

Win a $500 Aerostich gift certificate and have a fabulous ride to the antithesis of Sturgis. On August 23-25, we'll be in Duluth, MN for VBR 3. That’s right, not PBR, but VBR, the Very Boring Rally celebrating Aerostich's 30th anniversary.

So how do you win a $500 Aerostich gift certificate? Go to our contest site and just type in your email address. That’s all there is to it! (The giveway is sponsored solely by MotoJourneys.com, which is unaffiliated with Aerostich or the VBR rally ).

Lake SuperiorIf you enjoy motorcycling, then you will enjoy this rally overlooking Lake Superior, one of the world's greatest bodies of fresh water that is much like an inland ocean. There is usually a moment, of about 30 seconds or less, where you can actually take a dip in the grand body of water when it is not instantly hypothermic. So if you believe everything you hear, try it!

National Championship Observed TrialsThere are seminars, long distance riders, journalists, authors, and those that just enjoy everything about motorcycling. In addition, for those that sweat turning around on a two-lane highway, the National Championship Observed Trials are held simultaneously at the rally site, Spirit Mountain. There, you can observe those too young to have driver’s licenses make your attempt to turn around within two lanes look like a rather unskilled maneuver.

After watching these very talented young trial contestants, do what you and I are wise enough to know we should not try, unless of course, we have inadvertently left the road and find ourselves frantically negotiating uncharted countryside while our GPS admonishes us to make a U-turn. Aren’t you glad you got that helmet with Bluetooth!

Bob Crowe and Clement SalvadoriThen there are the chances to meet well known journalists and writers for your fleeting moment of fame as compared to their well-established position amongst the well-known and respected. Everybody is a good sport and there to have fun and share.

To set the record straight, the gentleman on the left is the well-known journalist and motorcyclist, Clement Salvadori, whereas the guy on the left, still to this day, remains quite unknown, even to the gentleman on the right.

John Ryan's Modified BikeThen for those that are thinking of making modifications to their motorcycles to improve performance, there is always someone who brings an idea stimulating bike with aesthetic modifications you just may never have considered - a bit non-linear, maybe? This one compliments of John Ryan, a legend in the motorcycle world (Google him). Let’s just say he rides his bike a bit more than you and I do — combined...a bit faster too!

Very Boring Rally VillageAnd if the Buffalo Chip Campground at Sturgis is what you are looking for, look no further than the Spirit Mountain Lodge lawn. If there is a wet t-shirt contest, it is most likely a solo beer spilling incident on a high-viz colored t-shirt...worn by some guy.

Then for those KLR fans who say, “Oh I have one just like that,” not so fast; it is a diesel. Yet if you can get one of these, you will have most likely spent the least on fuel getting to the rally of any other riders, but spent more for a KLR than anyone else at the rally. The stated range and mileage per gallon were beyond impressive. In short, your ass will not last as long as a tank of fuel.

KLR Diesel BikeIf you just have to ride one, enlistment in the USMC is probably your best bet, and that most definitely redefines "brand loyalty." Apparently, they are quite effective in areas of vast expanses of sand or remote mountainous regions in faraway places.
